QUALIFICATIONS 1. Human Environmental Science Degree with a concentration in Early Childhood Development or Child Development, or: 2. Early Childhood Education degree (B.S., B.A., or M.A./M.S.) or completion of a bachelor’s degree program leading to P-3 certification in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/ child development coursework, or: 3. Special Education degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework, or a bachelor’s degree program leading to certification in Early Childhood Special Education with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework

Other Requirements: Criminal Background Checks All First Class program personnel must have a satisfactory criminal background check, Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) background check and fingerprinting, with documentation on file with their employer. Professional Development OSR Lead teachers must attend a minimum of 15 hours of OSR sponsored training each year plus 15 additional hours of training offered by local or regional programs, for a total of 30 training hours. Classroom Duties Lead teachers are responsible for the daily operations of an OSR Classroom, implementing appropriate teaching standards that are aligned with the GOLD performance standards, conducting Parent/Teacher Conferences and maintaining a log of Parent Participation activities, participating in on-site Family Orientation, adhere to school and OSR attendance/discipline/intervention policies, attend professional development activities as outlined in the OSR guidelines (and listed above), and maintain proper documentation of professional development in STI-PD. Specific guidelines will be provided through teacher orientation and provided OSR program guidelines.

Alabama school boards are required by state law to verify the employment eligibility of newly hired employees by using the federal E-Verify program. New employees are required to provide a Social Security number, and unexpired identity document that contains a photograph, and other acceptable documents that establish employment eligibility. In addition to determining whether a new hire is authorized to work in the United States, E-Verify will confirm that the employee’s name and Social Security number match. The U.S. Department of homeland Security DHS has a service for employees to check their own employment authorization status before going through the E-Verify process at a new job. The E-Verify Self Check gives new employees some additional time to correct any problems they find with their DHS or Social Security Administration records before employment begins.
